Delice Dental Health Initiative was created in 2015 after reflecting on the value of my work while working with foreign doctors on a mission trip in Haiti. A bright-eyed 16 year old at the time, I wanted to help my community in any way possible. Yet, I learned of a recurring theme from the people we were trying to help: short-term travel missions don't work, because the root cause of the issue remains after they leave.
Teaming up with my mother, a dental surgeon and professor with over 20 years of combined experience in the field, Delice Dental Health Initiative started in the comforting walls of our local church congregation. Since then, I have served in many roles for the organization, such as being its Senior Interpreter during our partnerships with long-term mission teams, taking over as its Vice-President to expand its reach internationally and recruit viable partners, and finally, serve as its Director of Marketing and Communications to expand the social media and online presence of the organization in Haiti and beyond.
